How Human Design helps distinguish between Self and Not-Self.

Human Design is the system of knowledge about how different all individuals are. It explores the nature (design) of human beings and the mechanics of their bodies.

Based on one’s birth data with the help of special software, a rave chart is made. This is a unique graphical representation of how a particular person is designed. In the rave chart there are places that are colored-in, and not colored-in.

Colored-in places correspond to consistent attributes as they depict the life force imprinted in a person at birth as an inherent way to experience life.

Not colored-in, white, places represent the receptors through which a person receives information from the surrounding world and other people. This phenomenon is known as conditioning.

Even though the aspects relevant to open (not colored-in) places can be experienced very intensely from time to time, they DO NOT DEFINE who a person really is as they have no constant access to these aspects.

These attributes are inconsistent as they depend on if and how one is conditioned by others (within 3 meters), meaning they do not represent the truth of this person. As these open places are Not-Self, one should not get caught up in these attributes and rely on these aspects when making decisions.

In other words, what is colored-in represents one’s fixed nature, “Self”. The centers that are not colored-in represent “Not-Self”, the deepest source of one’s personal vulnerability to conditioning.

When my Chart was first presented to me during the Foundation Reading, frankly speaking, I experienced controversial feelings – a sense of surprise as I hadn’t thought of myself that way, and yet, a feeling of relief elsewhere, as it validated something I had long sensed to be true. So, for me there was no point in resisting or arguing against it.

How do you discern in what you feel, what is truly you, and what might be conditioning?

And what did you feel when you first saw your Human Design rave chart?
