It’s a real life story of how we got a dog.

I am a spontaneous Generator, a person who responds in the moment, spontaneously and quickly. And my younger daughter is an emotional Generator. Her strategy is also to respond, but her Inner Authority is different. She needs to filter to make the right decision for herself over time. So, the moment came when she understood, felt that she wanted to get a dog. We had seen many different photos and videos of dogs being bred and dogs in shelters. And it became clear to my daughter that she wanted to adopt a dog from a shelter.

So now, we have been living with Martini, the dog we took from a shelter, since 2018. Every time we look at her, we are amazed at how perfectly she fits, how she is truly ours, and how lucky we are to have found this particular dog. How did it happen?

Looking back a little, I want to share how it all was unfolding because we were experimenting and did it out of response, following Generator’s Strategy.

So, we found a Facebook group called “Want a Dog” where they occasionally post photos of dogs looking for a home. Maria and I would look at these pictures and simply respond, with “aha,” “no,” “hmm,” “yes.” We saved the photos in our favorites, so that Maria could go back and respond again after emotional filtering and feeling it over time.

Several times in a row we thought we were ready to meet a dog and call the curator, but it turned out that the dog was already with other owners or was on a trial period.

Just to give you some context, Maria was about 10 years old at the time. And at some point when we called about one dog and the new owners had already taken it, Maria even burst into tears because she interpreted it as us being unlucky, with all these obstacles in our way.

But from my experience I knew that life works this way, leading to what is truly “yours.” And on the same evening when she was in tears (as whereas she needs to filter over time, I respond in the moment), I continued searching, picked another dog following my response in the moment and showed the photo to Maria the following day. She waited for her emotional clarity, and then we called, met, and adopted our Martini.

It was very interesting when we met and saw the dog. Based on our immediate responses, I instantly felt that I understood this dog, an instant “aha” feeling. It was as if I knew from the inside how she reacts and thinks. My husband, also a spontaneous Generator, had the same immediate response. We took some time for Maria to filter until her emotional clarity.

The next morning when she woke up, she had such a “yes” feeling that she couldn’t do anything else.

She said, “Call, call, let’s go and get Martini.”

And so, by following our responses, some of us spontaneously in the moment, and the emotional Generator filtering over time, we adopted the dog who became a member of our family. She talks to us, gives us a lot of joy, and through her, we truly experience what unconditional love is. She is so “ours” that we can only marvel at the wisdom of life and how it guides us.

When it seems like “all is lost, boss”, life has already prepared your scenario, it’s already waiting for you. Your opportunity, your joy, something you are here to encounter, is already there.

By the way, it also happens in encounters with people. The feeling when you meet someone whom you were meant to meet – a feeling that it was supposed to happen, that you were destined to meet. That’s how, by following your Strategy and Authority, Generators are truly in tune with life, and feel that life takes care of them. It’s very relaxing and genuinely brings everything a Generator needs into their life.
