The best moments happen when they are unplanned.

It’s tempting, of course, to feel that something depends on you. Not just something, but oh wow! so much: you plan it all properly, control it, and voila! – it all happens just as intended.

One of the favorite games that people play is the game of playing god.

But… the more you plan, the more you either end up disappointed, or take it for granted. Disappointment sets in when things don’t unfold as expected – then you blame yourself or others for the unmet outcome. If what you planned does indeed come to pass, it often feels like a mere inevitability, once again because, well, you had planned it, so what’s the big deal?

Therefore, noticing what happens on its own, without intention, is OPENING UP TO YOUR PRESENT MOMENT. And there is something truly magical about it.

It’s like a little gift, a wink from life. It reminds us that LIFE HAPPENS TO US. That it has already prepared what we need, somewhere joyful, somewhere sad, but it’s perfectly tailored to our uniqueness.

What wasn’t planned becomes a discovery. Such moments awaken like a thunderclap… a rainbow… a bird flying by, or the unexpectedly long gaze of a stranger.

The question is whether we are open to what awaits us. Do we notice the winks?

Do we hear how Life speaks to us… and what it’s trying to say?

Today, my dog spoke to me with her gaze, a silent conversation that conveyed more than words ever could. I understood more than in a conversation with a person with whom I couldn’t find a common language. Astonishingly, her gaze filled me with warmth.

And what wink did Life give you today? 😉
